MALTA - Lorraine J. Grabofsky, 72, a homemaker, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at the Phillips County Hospital after a lengthy battle with emphysema.
A funeral service was held last Tuesday morning at Malta Lutheran Church with interment in the Malta Cemetery.
Lorraine was born on May 15, 1931, in Saco to
Vern and Hazel (Buttolph) Newton. She married Alfred Grabofsky on July 2, 1956, in Malta. They resided on the family farm northwest of Loring until retirement in November of 1994.
She was a member of the Loring Lutheran Church and later the Malta Lutheran Church. She was active in the Loring Ladies Aid and the Malta WELCA. She enjoyed attending family activies, traveling and going to basketball games.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Grabofsky; her parents; daughter-in-law, Linda Grabofsky; sisters, Wilma Anderson and Alice Newton; and brothers, Roland Newton and Kenneth Newton.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred Grabofsky of Malta; daughters, Jeane (Jim) Matter of Havre, Kathy Grabofsky of Malta, Karla (Jerry) Ellsworth of Eagle, Idaho, and Brenda (Pat) Olszewski of Frontier, Saskatchewan, Canada; son, Rick Grabofsky (Deana) of Hogeland; sister, Mary (Walt) Williamson of Grants Pass, Ore.; brother, Archie (Chris) Newton of Eugene, Ore.; sister-in-law, Shirley Newton of Livingston; 14 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Malta Lutheran Church Building Fund or charity of your choice. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
