Mildred Tangmo Mikkelson Bergum, 93, died Jan. 22, 2004, at a Havre hospital.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Havre with Pastors Brad Ulgenes and Catherine Card officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the graveside service. Mildred was born April 21, 1910, in Havre to Haakon A. and Anna (Larson) Tangmo. She was raised and educated in Havre. She met Engval Mikkelson and they were married May 13, 1929, in Malta. They had five children. Engval passed away in 1955. On Aug. 12, 1963, Mildred married John Bergum in Havre.
Mildred worked at Buttrey's, Mikkelson Tailor Shop and for Lou Lucke Co. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church most of her life. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and crafts. She made many quilts for missions at First Lutheran Church and hundreds of gifts for family and friends. Mildred was also a member of the Sons of Norway.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Engval Mikkelson; second husband, John Bergum; brothers, Art Tangmo, Edwin Tangmo and Raymond Tangmo; and one grandson, Michael Hooper.
Mildred is survived by her son, Arnold (Nella) Mikkelson of Newport Beach, Calif.; daughters, Virginia ( Dick) Henderson of Havre, Agnes (Jerry) Hooper of Spokane, Wash., Diana (David) Davallou of Oakland, Calif., and Donna (Eldon) Thorsen of Bend, Ore.; stepdaughter, Gladys Bergum Howard of Ruso, N.D.; brother, Harold (Martha) Tangmo of Orange, Calif.; sisters, Ruth Nash of Kalispell, and Anne Stallcop of Nampa, Idaho; 12 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 13 great-granchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
