MALTA - Richard (Dick) Joseph Plouffe, 65, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, in Fargo, N.D., from a heart attack while visiting a longtime friend.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Adams Memorial Chapel in Malta. Interment will be in the Malta Cemetery.
Dick was born on Oct.
29, 1938, in Malta to Lewis and Mabel (Homier) Plouffe. He was raised and educated in the Strater community.
He worked various farm and ranch jobs in the area before going to work for the Malta Irrigation District. He retired from the district in 2002 after 28 years.
The joy of Dicks life was his garden. He waited for seed catalogs to come so he could start planning and planting right after the first of the
year. Dick shared his garden produce with family, friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and shopping.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mabel Plouffe; sister, Dorothy Ames; and brothers, Dale Plouffe and Grady Plouffe; and
nephews, Steve Plouffe and Jeff Waters.
Survivors include brothers,Louis (Jean) Plouffe of Billings, Don (Nellie) Plouffe of Saco, Edward (Willie) Plouffe of Glasgow, Gary (Wilma)
Plouffe of Malta; sisters Gail (Willie) Johannesen of Havre, Judy Richard Messerly of Malta, Nancy (Jim Jones) Soennichsen of Malta; brother-in-law, George Ames; sister-in-law, Kathy Fladland; and several nephews and nieces with whom he had developed a special bond.
Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
