MARY ANN LODGE POLE obituary

ROCKY BOY - Mary Ann Lodge Pole, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.

A wake service will began at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Rocky Boy Lutheran Church with the funeral service scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. today with tradi-

tional elders conducting the service. Burial was to follow at the Rocky Boy Cemetery.

Mary was born on July 4, 1921, to John and Rose (Walking Child) Little Sun in Rocky Boy. She was raised and educated there.

Mary's hobbies were sewing blankets, beadwork, tanning hides, picking berries, and making pounded dry meat. Her beadwork was outstanding and world renowned, particularly in Germany and New York. Mary enjoyed attending traditional ceremonies, sweat lodge, sundance, horsedance, ghostdance, name giving ceremonies, giveaway dances, powwows, traditional round dances, and Native American Church ceremonies. She enjoyed visiting friends and relatives and making new acquaintances. She was a fifth-generation great-great-grandmother three times. Her life revolved around her Creator, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. This in her eyes made her a wealthy woman in the eyes of God. She did her best to instill the cultural beliefs and traditional values. She was an accepting woman who opened her heart and her home to all who made her acquaintance.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ralph Murie; daughter, Marjorie Lodgepole; grandchildren, Robert Lawrence Murie and Leslie Lodge Pole Jr .; and great-grandchild, Perfidio Zarco; brothers, Thomas Little Sun and George Little Sun; sister, Cella Little Sun.

Survivors include her children, Robert (Sandra) Murie, William (Marge) Lodge Pole, Leslie (Jill) Lodge Pole, Duane Lodge Pole, Donovan (Terri) Stump, Sharon (Leonard) Cantrell, Odessa (Andrew) Medicine Horse, Jolene (Douglas) Crebs, Sandra (Carlino) Bronco, Lois Gopher and Cynthia Murie, all of Rocky Boy; sister, Lucille Windy Boy of Rocky Boy; brother, Paul Little Sun of Rocky Boy; 170 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; adopted children, Avis Houle of Rocky Boy, Betty Fawns of Standoff Lethbridge, Alberta, Curtis Yazzie of Pueblo Pintado, N.M., Fred Gone of Fort Belknap, Ken White of Fort Deviance, Ariz., Jerry and George Saddleback of Hobbema, Alberta, and Kathleen Stump of Rocky Boy.
