Ponies earn all-conference honors

With the 2003 Class A high school football season wrapped up, the Central A conference announced its annual all-conference selections and a host of Havre Blue Ponies were among those selected this season.

Senior wide receiver Daine Solomon earned first-team honors at both wide receiver and strong safety. Solomon broke the Havre High record for receiving yards in a single season and he also had six interceptions from his safety position.

Junior quarterback Gary Wagner was named all-conference first-team quarterback after leading the conference and Class A in touchdowns and passing yardage. Junior tailback Scott Robinson was named to the first-team offense along with junior offensive tackle Chad Seely.

Headlining the first-team all-defensive selections was junior free safety Marc Mariani, who led the conference with nine interceptions this season. Mariani was also named a second-team wide receiver.

Junior Colby Mader was also a multiple selection this season. Mader was named to the first-team defense at linebacker and he was also a second-team offensive selection as a fullback. Junior defensive end Rick Hoium was a first-team defensive selection and junior Coda Tchida also earned first-team honors at cornerback.

Second-team offensive selections include junior tackle Nick Daniel and senior guard Shane Howard. Second-team defensive selections include defensive tackle Tyler Wheeler and linebacker Brett Michels.

Matt Boucher earned defensive honorable mention honors as did Craig Kallenberger. Senior offensive lineman Chris Peterson was also an honorable mention pick.
