DOROTHY HERBERT obituary

CHINOOK - Dorothy Mae Herbert, 89, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at a Chinook nursing home.

At her request no services are being held and cremation will take place.

Dorothy was born on April 25, 1914, in Easton, Pa., to Alex and Lela (Altimus) Schanenberger.

She was raised and educated in Easton graduating from Easton High School in 1938. She then attended NYC School of Art. She worked at Ingersoll Rand in Phillipsberg, N.J., and the Warren Hospital, also in Phillipsberg.

She married George Steckel, Sr. in Easton. The couple later divorced.

Dorothy later married Fred Herbert in 1959. In 1994 she moved to Missoula. Then in 1998, Dorothy moved from Missoula to Havre to be closer to her son and his family.

Dorothy enjoyed painting, working in her garden, yard sales, being a member of the Friends of the Library group, and reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Herbert; and brother, Donald Schanenberger.

She is survived by her son, George (Francis) Steckel of Havre; three grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
