WILLIAM WALLS obituary

GREENSBORO, Md. - William N. Walls, 74, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at his home in Greensboro, Md., surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Fleegle-Helfenbein Funeral Home in Greensboro. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Greensboro Baptist Church. Interment will be at Ridgely Cemetery.

Walls was born on Nov. 6, 1928, in Trainer, Pa., to Norman and Eileen (Radcliff) Walls. He lived in Ridgely as a child and in Greensboro since 1978. He had suffered from rheumatoid arthritis since 1966.

Walls served in the U.S. Army from 1946-48 and was mainly a truck driver in Korea during Korean War. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-56. He was stationed in Korea in 1952 as a cook, butcher and baker, and attended the cooking school at Keio University in Yokohama, Japan. During the other years he was stationed as various bases in the United States.

Walls lived in Havre from 1956-60 and worked at Don's Electric and Petrolane Gas Co. He lived in Salisbury, Md., and Delmar, Md., between 1960 and 1965, where worked at the Holt Farm, Campbell Soup Co., Taylor Electric Co. and Pote Electric Co. He lived in Las Vegas and North Las Vegas, Nev., between 1965 and 1978. He worked at the Nellis Air Force Base golf courser in the maintenance department and for Louis Prima on Prima's golf course.

Walls was a hospital chaplain at several Nevada hospitals, served as a royal ambassador leader and training union teacher at College Park Baptist Church in North Las Vegas.

In Greensboro, he attended Greensboro Baptist Church as a member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion. He was a previous member of various VFW posts, the National Rifle Association, Republican Party and Senior Coalition.

Walls was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James E. Walls, and nephew, Edward Walls.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carolee (Waldrip) Walls; children, William D. Walls of Denton, Md., Eileen Walls and Roberta (Walls) Cook, both of Greensboro, Md.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
