LEONARD CHAMPAGNE obituary

Leonard Dale Champagne, 53, of Great Falls died of pneumonia Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at a Great Falls hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Lawn Mausoleum Chapel. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.

Leonard was born on July 8, 1950, in Glasgow and raised in Havre, where he was educated.

He married Karen Gilbert in 1991 in Spokane, Wash. She died in July 2000.

He worked as a general laborer and handyman, and enjoyed walking, playing machines and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen (Gilbert) Champagne, and his parents, Loren Burger and Patricia Champagne.

Survivors include his daughter, Gerri Matye of Great Falls; sons, John Komeotis of Missoula and Richard Nicholsen of Kalispell; sisters, Olivia Larson, Patty Larson and Hazel Lawrence, all of Great Falls, Charlene Lawrence of Arizona, Bobbi Jo Lawrence of Havre, Laura Burger of Canada, and Susie Burger and Linda Burger, both of Butte; brothers, Arthur Lawrence and Billy Larson, both of Great Falls, Junior Lawrence and Gabe Lawrence, both of Havre, and John Burger of Butte; and six grandchildren.
