Helen J. Wilkins, 88, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at a Havre care center of natural causes.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Catherine Card officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship will be held at the church immediately after the services at the graveside.
Helen was born March 22, 1915, to Henry and Bernice (Johnson) Johnson in Havre. She attended school at Cottonwood and graduated from Havre High School.
She married James Virgil Wilkins on July 19, 1936, at Chinook. Virgil and Helen made there home in Havre until 1958, when they moved to Alhambra, Calif.
Helen worked for Sears Roebuck in the catalog sales department. Helen returned to Havre in June of 2002 to be near her brothers and sister. She resided at the Northern Montana Care Center.
She enjoyed traveling and was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Virgil Wilkins in 1984; and son, Vincent Lowell Wilkins in 1996; two brothers; and one sister.
Helen is survived by her sons, James V. Wilkins Jr. of Yorba Linda, Calif., Richard A. Wilkins of McCall, Idaho, and Dennis Lee Wilkins of Kildeer, Ill .; sister, Ann Friesen of Havre; brothers, Hylas, Ellis and Ford Johnson, all of Havre; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial's in Helen's honor may be made to the First Lutheran Church 303, Sixth Ave., Havre, MT 59501.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
