RANDY LYNN MILLER obituary

Randy Lynn Miller, 53, of Chandler, Ariz., died at his home surrounded by family and friends on March 17, 2003, after a battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Evangelical Church, 152 Aberdeen St. in Glasgow.

Randy was born Sept. 18, 1949, in Wessington Springs, S.D., the son of Ivan and Helen Dascher Miller. He moved from South Dakota to Montana with his family in 1954, and graduated from Nashua High School in 1968. Randy then moved to Havre, where he studied music at Northern Montana College. He and Kathy Whittlesey were married in 1971. They were later divorced.

Randy spent many years in Havre as a co-owner of Mac's Sport Cycles and owner of Gasoline Alley. He moved to Phoenix in 1991, where he worked as a research and development technical engineer for Nissan North America.

Randy's great love of speed and horsepower was evident in both his career and his obsession for motorcycles and racing. He was recently awarded a patent for the invention of a motorcycle toy he designed and developed. He also enjoyed playing the tuba in a local Chandler band, an instrument he had played since he was 4.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Miller of Glasgow.

Randy is survived by a daughter, Melissa Miller of Bozeman; his longtime companion, Jeanine Avent of Chandler; nieces, Susan Miller of Glasgow and Stacie McCauley of Bozeman, and Stacie's children, Conner and Logan.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or to the American Cancer Society.
