Willis L. Hanson, 75, of Havre died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rowlie Hutton officiating. Burial with full military
honors will be at the Highland Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Methodist Church immediately after services at the graveside.
Willis was born on Sept. 7, 1927, in Gildford to Arnold and Sylvia (Meyers) Hanson. He attended Gildford Public Schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Oakland and USS Arnold Isabell during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1948.
On Sept. 3, 1950, he married Daphne Jean Corniea in Havre. Willis was employed at various implement dealers in Havre.
Willis was an avid gardener. He was a member of the Lions Club in Havre and held many offices while he was a member. He also served on the Hill County Cemetery Board for many years and was instrumental in establishing the Havre Community Pool.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jean, in 1999.
Willis is survived by his sons, Mark Hanson of Richland, Wash., and Paul Hanson of Havre; daughter, Denise G. Hanson of Havre; and three grandchildren.
