LODGE POLE - Robert Messerly, 40, a rancher died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at his home after suffering a heart attack at his home.
A wake service will be this evening at the family home at mile marker 2 on the road north of Lodge Pole. The funeral service will be 11 a.m.
Wednesday at the family home. Cremation will follow the service.
Robert was born on June 17, 1963 at Fort Belknap to Glen and Leona (Longfox) Messerly Jr. He was raised at Fort Belknap and attended school at Harlem.
At Harlem he met Pat Crantz and after many years of sharing his life with his best friend, Pat, they were married on Nov. 26, 2000.
Robert was a hard-working person. He spent much of his time taking care of his cows at the valley pasture near Fort Belknap. He also helped out his nephews, Manny and Scott Healy, with their cows and also Willie Ray and Jesse Jr., with whatever they needed.
He enjoyed spending time with his many nieces and the rest of his nephews, who all had the utmost respect for him. He loved to fish, hunt, read western books, ride horses, basketball, riding motorcycles. He was also liked playing pool and was a good mechanic and loved to spend time with his family. He especially loved his children and his nieces and nephews. Robert had a big heart and was always willing to help. He would give what he had to anyone who needed it more than he did.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Messerly of Lodge Pole; daughter, Elizabeth Messerly of Lodge Pole; sons, Joseph Messerly and Robert Messerly Jr., both of Lodge Pole; sisters, Diane Healy, Barbara Messerly, Glenda Messerly and Roberta Johnson, all of Fort Belknap, and Shirley Bell and Marjorie Snell, both of Lodge Pole; brothers, David Messerly, Douglas Messerly and Leon Messerly, all of Fort Belknap, Mike Messerly and Gordon Messerly of Lodge Pole, and Dean Messerly of Hays; granddaughter, Izzabella Messerly.
Adams Funeral Home and Hi-Line Crematory are in charge of arrangements.
