MARIETTA, Ga. - Arvid W. Hobby, 67, of Marietta, Ga., died Thursday, June 19, 2003, in Marietta.
A Mass was held last Wednesday in Marietta. A memorial service and interment will be held in Glasgow at a later date.
He was born in Bainville on July 23, 1935, to Fred and Helen (Vannatta) Hobby. He attended school in Bainville. After graduation, he joined the Great Northern Railway in 1954 in Havre, then transferred to Glasgow.
He continued to work for the railroad as a brakeman and later as a conductor. He retired with disability after 30 years of service. He also served nine years with the National Guard.
He married Marie Nelson on April 28, 1956, in Glasgow. They lived in Glasgow for 40 years. They moved to Kennesaw, Ga., in 1996.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen Hobby.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Hobby of Kennesaw; daughter, Sandra (Ron) Richards; brother, Norman Hobby of Helena; sister, Caryl Hobby of Glasgow; and two grandsons.
