CLARA SIMONS obituary

TURNER - Clara C. Simons, 77, died Monday, June 9, 2003, at a Malta nursing home due to natural causes.

Graveside memorial services will be Saturday, June 28, 2003, at 1 p.m. in the Turner Cemetery.

Clara was born on Oct. 19, 1925, in Saco to Otto and Mary

(Bierwargon) Schleusner. She graduated from Whitewater High School and received a teaching degree from Northern Montana College. Clara taught county school in south Phillips County and later at Turner.

She married Robert "Bob" Simons on Jan. 6, 1947, in Chinook. Clara was involved with her husband on the family farm for 37 years.

She was a member of the Turner American Lutheran Church and involved in church activities.

Clara enjoyed doing artwork, painting outdoor scenes and also camping, hunting and fishing with family.

She and her husband spent 12 years wintering in the desserts of Arizona, New Mexico and Mexico.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, son, Perry F. Simons; sister, Sally Matthews; and brother, Billy Schleusner.

Survivors include her husband, Robert "Bob" Simons of Chinook; sons, Calvin Simons of Havre, Leslie Simons of Turner, Craig Simons of Dunloring, Va.; brothers, Clifford Schleusner of Billings and Kenneth Schleusner of Apply Valley, Calif.; sisters, Margaret Gartside of Saco; Idealia Vaupel of Albuquerque, N.M., Hattie Engstrand of Puyallup, Wash.; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be sent to the Turner American Lutheran Church.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
