SARASOTA, Fla. - Joe Kenneth Stubbs, 53, died April 10, 2003, in Fort Myers, Fla.
The funeral service was April 15 at the Palms Funeral Home in Sarasota, Fla. with the Rev. Wayne Briant officiating.
Joe was born in Newnan, Ga., on Jan.
29, 1950. He graduated from Chamblee High in 1968.
Joe was appointed by Sen. Herman Talmadge to the Air Force Academy. With top-secret clearances, he served his country with pride in the area of reconnaissance intelligence for four years in Texas, Montana and Germany.
Joe and his wife, Debbie, of 31 years, traveled together to 17 different countries. They moved from Havre to Sarasota in 1995 when their son, Christopher, was accepted to the Ringling School of Art and Design, where he graduated and now works for Hallmark, one of many accomplishments that Joe was extremely proud of.
After the Air Force, Joe worked for 25 years in the medical industry, first in hospital administration and then in medical sales.
Joe enjoyed live jazz, fishing, traveling and was looking forward to golf. The three greatest passions in his life were his family, his friends and his motorcycle.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, James Stubbs; and father-in-law, Marvin Anderson.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Stubbs of Sarasota; son, Christopher (Connie) Stubbs of Roeland Park, Kan.; brothers, David Stubbs of Jefferson, Ga., and Barry Stubbs of St. Marys, Ga.; sisters, Starla Stubbs and Rhonda Stubbs Madison of Norcross, Ga.; great-grandmother, "Ma Brown" of Buchanan, Ga.; mother-in-law, Edith Anderson of Havre; sister-in-law, Roberta Anderson of Havre; nephew, Mike Morelli of Havre; brother-in-law, Dave Anderson of Kalispell; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by Palms Funeral Home in Sarasota, Fla.
