Mary A. Azure, 79, retired housekeeper for the Rocky Boy Clinic, died Thursday April 3, 2003, at a Havre care facility of natural causes.
Viewing will begin Friday at 2 p.m. and be held again Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Holland and Bonine Funeral Chapel. Mary's wake will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at
the Rocky Boy Catholic Church with the funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. Monday at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church with the Rev. Pete Guthneck officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Calvary Cemetery in Havre. Immediately following the graveside services there will be a luncheon at the Eagles Club in Havre.
Mary was born on Sept. 27, 1923, to Frank and Julia (LaDue) Akino in Fort Belknap. Mary attended boarding school in Fort Hall, Idaho, and then returned to Rocky Boy for her schooling.
On Sept. 21, 1940, Mary married Pete Azure in Havre. Mary worked at the Rocky Boy Clinic as a housekeeper and retired in 1980. She then went to work for the Box Elder School as a cook.
Mary enjoyed quilting, gardening, playing bingo and cooking. Her best enjoyment came from spending time with her family and friends. Mary was a member of the Rocky Boy Catholic Church, The Legion Of Mary, and the Eagles Auxiliary.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pete Azure in 1991; sisters, Alice Normandy and Elizabeth Racine; brother, Alex Akino; son, Leon Azure; daughter, Patricia Azure; and grandson, Charles Berger Jr.
Survivors include her daughters, Lois (Greg) English of Havre, Teresa Fair of Great Falls, Evelyn (James) Sangrey of Box Elder, Marlene (Dale) Shulund of Rocky Boy, Julie (Rick) Nelson of Flagler, Colo., and Tammi (Greg) Golden of Havre; sisters, Lydia Collins of Butte, Irene McCormick of Havre and Madeline Billy of Rocky Boy; adopted Nault and Writing Bird families; adopted daughter, Laurie Corcoran of Havre; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials in Mary's honor may be made to the Rocky Boy Catholic Church.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
