EDITH MAY CRUMPACKER Obituary

EMPORIA, Kan. - Edith Mae Crumpacker died Sunday, March 2, 2003, in an Emporia, Kan., hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Emporia. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private inurnment will be at a later date.

Edith was born in Havre, Mont., to Thomas Wesley and Christine Andrus McDonald. She graduated from Pleasanton High School in Pleasanton, Kan.

Edith married William Dale Crumpacker Jr. on Dec. 4, 1948, in Berryville, Ark. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1982.

Edith moved to Emporia in 1949.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporia. She was active in the American Business Women's Association, where she was selected the 2002 Woman of the Year by the Emporia Chapter, as well as United Methodist Women, Thursday Craft Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Emporia Women's City Club and Newman Hospital Auxiliary. She served as a docent for the Lyon County Historical Society.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Crumpacker; sister, Margaret McDonald; brother, Charles McDonald; and a stepdaughter, Patsy Ann Crumpacker Harwell.

Survivors include her daughter, Judith Kay Vigliaturo of Desoto, Kan.; sons, Alan Dale Crumpacker of Emporia and Wesley Dale Crumpacker of Camdenton, Mo.; brother, Thomas Wesley McDonald Jr. of Shawnee, Okla.; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
