BRETA KRAVIK

HAYDEN LAKE, Idaho - Breta Olivia Kravik, 85, formerly of Havre, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, in Hayden Lake, Idaho, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Feb. 5 at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Home, 113 S. Wilson, Bozeman. A reception is to follow at the Bozeman Senior Citizen Center, 807 N. Tracy Ave.

Interment of ashes will be at the Montana State Veterans' Cemetery at Fort Harrison.

Breta was born March 12, 1917, in Laurel to Carl and Helen Anderson. She graduated from Bozeman High School and attended Montana State College in Bozeman, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Breta married Gay Kravik in Bozeman in 1936. They lived in several communities in northern Montana, where he taught and coached. After World War II, they lived in Denver, where he worked for the Veterans' Administration. In 1952, they returned to the Kravik family farm south of Havre. In Havre, Breta served as a foster parent, briefly taught at Northern Montana College as a licensed cosmetologist, and was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a frequent visitor to Bozeman as she returned to assist at her mother's beauty schools in Bozeman and Billings and to manage various farm and rental properties in Gallatin County. She eventually moved to Bozeman to care for her mother. While in Bozeman, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Huguenot Society and Royal Neighbors of America. Three years ago she moved to Hayden Lake to be near family.

Breta loved music, gardening, antiques and fishing on the Gallatin River.

She was preceded in death by her son, Gary; husband, Gay; and brother, Eric Anderson.

Survivors include her sons, Jim (Sandy) Kravik of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Gay (Cindy) Kravik of Garland, Texas; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
