AARON DAVID SWALLOW Obituary

Aaron David Swallow, retired owner of Rocky Mountain Packing Co., died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at a Great Falls hospital after a short illness. He was 84.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Highland Park Cemetery with the Rev. Rowlie Hutton officiating. Aaron was born March 17, 1918, to James F. and Anna Catherine (Brinney) Swallow at Malmo, Minn. The family made many moves in his early years.

Aaron met his future wife, Mamie R. Schwenke, in the Swan River Valley in 1934. They were married Jan. 1, 1936, at Gridley, Calif. The couple had four children.

Aaron and his family returned to Montana in 1942 and moved to Havre in 1949. He worked from 1949 to 1975 at Rocky Mountain Packing and purchased Rocky Mountain Packing Co. on June 1, 1975.

The couple enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren, traveling and camping. He enjoyed fishing, rock collecting, and restoring antique trunks and Model T's.

He was preceded in death by

his parents, James and Anna Catherine (Brinney) Swallow, granddaughter Rhonda Swallow, and brothers Paul, John, and Ezra Swallow.

He is survived by: wife, Mamie R. Swallow of Havre; daughters, Laura (Art) Fanning of Grand Coulee, Wash., Janet (Pat) Roche of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Judith Gebhardt of Helena; son, David "Hollis" (Linda) Swallow of Havre; brothers, James Swallow of Arizona, and Mark, Steven and Amos Swallow of California; sisters, Esther Coverdale of Kalispell, and Naomi Harris and Martha Little of Oregon; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Aaron's honor may be made to Gift of Life, P.O. Box 7008, Great Falls, MT 59406-7008, or to a charity of a person's choice.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
