Robert A. Arensmeyer, 77, of Choteau died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Benefis East Hospital in Great Falls of complications following surgery.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Choteau. The Rev. Jerry Olson was to officiate. Interment with military honors was to follow in the Choteau Cemetery. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder Funeral Home of Choteau.
Robert was born Oct. 12, 1925, in Farmington, the son of Ernest and Frieda (Kathman) Arensmeyer. He was raised and educated in the Choteau area and graduated from high school there in 1948. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he returned to Choteau, were he lived until 1960, then moved to Havre. He worked as an independent painter, a floor installer for Weir Furniture, and as a painter for Havre Paint and manager of Columbia Paint. He then moved back to Choteau in 1991 after his retirement and lived there until his death.
He was married to Joann Acord in 1948 in Choteau. She preceded him in death.
He enjoyed golf, gardening and fishing.
He is survived by: daughter: Barbara Mahn of Missoula; sons, David (Dawn) Arensmeyer and Daniel (Barbara) Arensmeyer, both of Havre; sisters, Dorothy Cook and Edna Gunderson, both of Choteau. Ruth Bloedel of Billings, and Esther Fuller of Apache Junction, Ariz.; brother, Jim (Barbara) Arensmeyer of Choteau; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
