MARY DELLA ISLE, Obituary

WOLF POINT Mary Della Isle, 103, died May 22, 2002, at the Faith Home in Wolf Point.

Visitations will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at the Clayton Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Clayton Memorial Chapel with

the Rev. Carey Olson of Bloomington, Minn., officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wolf Point.

Mary was born April 11, 1899 at Spaulding, Iowa, to William and Myrna Thomas Schmuck. In early life, the family moved to a farm near Albion, Neb., where she grew up. Mary worked hard on the farm taking her place beside her brothers in doing field work. When she was 19, she suffered a great loss when her mother passed away.

On July 30, 1919, she married Charles Isle and they moved to a farm at Fullerton, Neb. In 1921, the young family moved to Prairie Elk to farm with her sister and husband who had come to Montana earlier. They later moved to a farm near Sand Creek, south of Wolf Point.

The depression years followed and the family moved to a home three miles east of Wolf Point. In 1944, the family moved into their home in Wolf Point.

Mary and Charles celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at the Community Bible Church in Wolf Point in July of 1969. Charles passed away eight months later on March 26, 1970.

Mary saw many changes in the three centuries in which she lived.

Mary was a true Christian. She loved her Lord and she loved attending services and all the activities at the Community Bible Church. She was an active member of the Mission Society and enjoyed helping with its projects. Mary was a Christian example to her family. She was faithful in praying for each of her children and all the grandchildren. On holidays and on Sundays, many of her family would gather at her home for playing games and visiting. She always greeted everyone with hugs and kisses, and made everyone feel ever so welcome.

Mary loved children, and she did baby-sitting for many families in town.

She loved flowers and houseplants. Her family, neighbors, and friends have memories of her living room, decorated with many blooming plants, made possible by her green thumb. Her neighbors knew that they were always welcome to get a slip or a root from any of her house plants.

Mary enjoyed music. She enjoyed the music at church, and she often sang hymns, as she did her work around the house. For as long as she was able, she especially enjoyed the musical programs at Faith Home.

In February of 1986, after her health began to fail, Mary moved into Faith Home where she received tender loving care for her remaining years.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Roger and his wife Agnes of Wolf Point, and Charles and his wife Avis of Lovell, Wyo.

She is survived by one son, Henry Isle and his wife, Mary, of Wolf Point; two daughters, Wilma Bartel and her husband, Monroe, of Wolf Point, and Mary Biem and her husband, Ray, of Havre; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
