ANNA POPPLER, Obituary

CHINOOK Anna Mary Caroline "Carrie" Poppler, 93, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at a Havre care center of natural causes.

Rosary will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church.

Burial will be in Kuper Memorial Cemetery.

Caroline was born to H.A. and Mary (Pasthauer) Hebbelman on May 23, 1909. She grew up on a farm six miles south of Zurich.

Caroline married William Poppler in Harlem on April 24, 1928. They had an irrigated farm six miles east of Zurich where they raised sugar beets, potatoes, grain and livestock. It was a shock when William died in March 1958. They had good neighbors, Ozzie Wurth and Bob Musgrove, who helped plant the beets and grain the first few years. Her two brothers, John and Rudy, helped put up hay and many more things.

Caroline was active in the Home Demonstration Club. She did canning and cooking for hired help, enjoyed crocheting, embroidery work and sewing.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers.

Survivors include her son, Bill (Elaine) Poppler of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; daughters, Mary Ann Burke of Alamo, Calif. and Myrtle (Frank) Tilleman of Spokane; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre or to the Chinook Senior Citizen's Center.
