As most of you know, one of the things I loved about pastoring in rural Montana was being allowed to try my hand as a cowboy. I will always be grateful to Charlie for encouraging that fantasy — but I will also be well aware that I was never very good at it. To put it bluntly, I could never set a horse properly because I have what my percussionist son calls “rhythm deficit disorder.” Even after six years riding Doc, I would still lose my balance easily and bounce rather than flow at the gallop. No wonder I got tossed and b...
On Sunday, July 18, I preached a message titled "It is finished." Here are my notes from that sermon: In John 19:30, Jesus declared: "It is finished." This was a declaration of a mighty, mighty victory. From that day forward, these final words from the cross would serve to change history. First of all, a mission was accomplished. In John 17:4, Jesus states to God, His Father, that He was "finishing the work that you gave me to do." Obviously, there was much more to Jesus' time...

How about alpine currants, (yum!), beautiful baby's breath, lovely canna lilies, beautiful yellow/gold daffodils, our neighbor's hardy pink hibiscus, and remembering mom's lovely pink and red impatiens! Thinking back to long ago, how about auntie's jacaranda tree! Wow! Rhubarb is special to many folks, too, especially the pi...

"Something that makes it their own is that it's all youth produced. That's, you know, different. So it's directed by youth, and it's starred in...
