  • Frigid weather hits region after a snowy Christmas

    Havre, along with most of the northern tier of Montana, is in for some frigid weather this week, with local temperatures this morning as low as negative 24 degrees and a wind chill warning in effect until Tuesday morning.   • Meadowlark Estates Water and Sewer District officially dissolved

    Hill County Commissioners voted unanimously Thursday to dissolve the Meadowlark Estates Water and Sewer District at the request of the state after residents of the area voted 22 to 3 to do so. In October, Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson said Meadowlark Estates, many years ago, had planned to put in a water and sewer system and applied to become a district, but later decided against creating the system, making the district inactive.     The Montana state COVID tracking map after this morning’s update listed 382 new cases, 1,775 active cases, 112 hospitalizations and 2,899 deaths. The cumulative total for the state was 196,044 cases. Hill County Health Department said in its update Thursday night that 2 new cases were reported and 3 met the criteria to be considered recovered with 5 active cases in the county and 3,537 total cases.     Virgil “Slim” Buffalo, 46, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.
