Gene Whinnen, age 85, passed away November 20, 2024, of natural causes. He was a beloved father, brother and friend who will be missed. Gene was born September 17, 1939, in San Francisco, CA. When Gene was 12, his mother, Mildred Whinnen, moved Gene and his two sisters, Marilyn and Loretta, to Chinook, MT. Press release The final results are in from the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Havre check station for the 2024 hunting season. The check station was open for eight weekends from Oct. 12 (the opener of general antelope and pheasant) through Dec. 1 (the end of the deer/elk general season). Overall, hunter numbers were down from recent years, big game numbers were below average, and upland bird harvest was mixed.
