Many people were left without power near Havre Tuesday afternoon after a gas line broke near the Saddle Butte area Tuesday. Butch Larcombe, spokesperson for NorthWestern Energy said a contractor working for Hill County hit a gas line while placing a guardrail in the ground near the area, which led to power being cut as well. Larcombe said 13 homes lost power because of this. “We’re working to fix the line. Three candidates for the head football coach position at Montana State University-Northern have been named and will be interviewed next week. Ryan Gatch, Kelly Bills and Aaron Christensen are the finalists out of 62 applicants for the position. Gatch will be interviewed Monday, Bills Wednesday and Christensen Thursday. The Havre Public School District Board of Trustees met Tuesday to approve a 5K benefit run and a trip to Washington, D.C., and to plan the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovations at Sunnyside Primary School. From FWP Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is seeking information on the poaching of two elk shot and left in the Larb Hills area south of Malta in hunting district 622. FWP Warden Ben Morin said the two elk, one cow and one spike, were shot Nov. 25 and left to waste. The cow elk was found on the Virginia Koss Block Management area, while the spike was located on adjacent BLM land. Starting this past Sunday and over the last three days, the Glacier Nationals have been competing in the prestigious North American Tier 3 Hockey League's annual showcase.
