Federal prosecutors say the woman from Kalispell, Mont., intentionally pushed Johnson the night of July 7, just eight days after their marriage, then lied to family, friends and the police for days by s...

A lot of times you hear people say that older people are community-oriented, and young people are thinking only of themselves. Who will pitch in and help out on community projects when the older generation passes? Well, fear no more. Havre High School students have come forth with the answer. They will take over that responsibility. Members of the Key Club have undertaken several community-minded projects over the years. Now they are taking on a massive effort. The students heard of two families that are in need of help and...
I want to apologize to anyone who drove out to the high school to judge at the speech, debate and drama tournament Saturday only to find out it was canceled. Activities director Dennis Murphy and I spent quite a bit of time on the telephone late Friday night trying to decide whether to continue the tournament after some six schools had canceled due to the bitterly cold weather. We ended up deciding about 11:30 p.m. that the safety of the students came first, and we needed to cancel. I know I failed to contact many judges, and...

Northern was especially strong in the dual portion of the event, held Friday at the McLaughlin Center in Great Falls, where the Lights...

The frigid arctic air blowing over north-central Montana set some new records - it held the coldest spots in the lower 48 states at times - but Havre officials say it was mostly a quiet weekend. "You know, I think the cold pretty much kept everybody inside," Interim Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich said this morning, though Havre Fire Chief Dave Sheppard said his department had to respond to some problems caused by the cold weather, but no fires or people suffering from...
Firefighters evacuated Cottonwood Cinema 4 after responding to a 4:27 p.m. Friday call to investigate a fire alarm that went off. The alarm turned out to be a false call, firefighters said. A broken water pipe, connected to the sprinkler system and likely caused by the bitter winter weather, set the alarm off. Fire alarms are set off when they read that water is flowing through the pipes in a sprinkler system. The broken pipe let water flow through the system, thus causing the alarm to sound....

If the way a prep wrestling team starts a new season is any indication on how the season will end up, then the Class A Havre Blue Ponies should be very excited.
