  • View from the North 40: A snow job in clown shoes

    Pam Burke Humor columnist|Updated Dec 5, 2014

I hate to say “I told you so.” Life’s too short to waste so many words on vindictiveness. It’s so much more uplifting to just point your finger and laugh, which is exactly my response every time someone says they’re going to try snowshoeing or cross-country skiing for the first time and they come back sore, exhausted and disheartened. Not that I’m against either winter activity in theory because the theory behind them is that they give humans a way to more easily travel across winter snow so we are better able to commune wit...

    Updated Dec 5, 2014

But, the Griz don’t have to wait until next year to change that situation. Instead, for the first time in the storied rivalry, the two Big Sky powers will meet in an FCS playoff game. No. 11 Montana (9-4) visits No. 4 Eastern Washington (10-2) Saturday at Roos Field with a berth in the FCS quart...

After a slow start to the 2014-15 season, the Glacier Nationals of the North American Tier 3 Hockey League are picking up steam. And even though their number of losses still greatly outnumbers their wins, they are playing their best hockey of the season — just in time for their most grueling stretch of their schedule. The Nationals, who have earned points in three of their last four games, will look to build on their recent string of strong play as they host the Great Falls A...
