  • Looking out my Backdoor: February is the longest month

    Sondra Ashton|Updated Feb 11, 2021

Into every life some rain must fall. Okay. I understand. Go throw up and come back to let me explain. Our particular metaphoric “rainfall,” the whole world over, no humans exempt, the great equalizer, is the COVID 19 coronavirus. Hang in there with me a minute. I get smarmier. Behind every rain lurks a rainbow. Are you still with me? Do I hear the echo of an empty-room? I’m serious. I’m not saying this is a universal truth or anything like that. But a lot of good things...

  • Ponies set for final home games

    George Ferguson|Updated Feb 11, 2021

Havre High girls basketball head coach Dustin Kraske should be more than happy about his team's undefeated conference record and league title. Instead, he was concerned that his team would not be able to have their senior night this week because their scheduled opponent, Browning, dropped out because of COVID-19 issues. The Blue Ponies searched for a replacement in order to still honor their seniors and, thankfully, Fort Benton agreed to play the Ponies tonight at the Havre...

    George Ferguson|Updated Feb 11, 2021

So winter finally came. It finally looks and feels like basketball and wrestling season right now. Not that I wanted this weather to show up because I didn’t, but it now really feels like the winter sports season. It feels that way, but today is still anything but feeling normal. If it was normal, if there was no pandemic going on, I’d be braving the snowy, icy, cold roads between Havre and Billings right now, headed for another All-Class State Tournament, preceded by a dua...
