A pizza fundraiser is set for Thursday to help Robert "Rob" Kelley pay for costs of his surgery to remove a tumor behind his left eye, and an online fundraiser has been started, as well. Kelley said that last June, a tumor was found behind his left eye and that Montana does not have a doctor who can perform surgery that far into the brain, so doctors in Billings referred him to a doctor in Seattle to remove it. He will be doing a pre-operation visit Tuesday, Jan. 28, and will...
Montana’s Sen. Steve Daines has introduced the Montana Water Rights Protection Act — MWRPA — to provide federal settlement of the water rights claims of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes — CSKT. Without this legislation, Montana will face years of expensive litigation and uncertainty in trying to resolve these claims, and will assuredly reach a worse conclusion. This is due to the undeniable fact that in water law, a settlement allows you to structure protection for junior water rights in a way that a trial does not...
To the Editor: Steve Daines lied when he recently swore an oath for the impeachment trial of Donald Trump to “do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws.” We all know this because Daines has called Trump’s impeachment a “sham,” elsewhere a “hoax,” and he has insisted, despite all the evidence of wrongdoing, that he is “standing with Trump.” Daines doesn’t even have the decency to pretend that he is going to uphold his oath to be impartial. He doesn’t care what the evidence is for Trump’s abuse of powe...

The Fort Benton girls have been in high gear all season, though, and that continued last Thursday as they crushed Chester-Joplin-Inverness 63-4. Fort Benton held the young Hawks without a single point in both the second and fourth quarters, while McKenzie Clark led four Longhorns in double figures with 14...
Montana State University-Northern athletics has been making multiple moves, and soon, Northern will have a club hockey team making moves on the Havre Ice Dome ice.
