  • Two overlapping power outages hit area Thursday

    Two separate power outages impacted the region Thursday night, with many NorthWestern Energy customers impacted by both outages. NorthWestern Energy spokesperson Jo Dee Black said this morning that an issues with a piece of equipment on a transmission line was identified as the reason for the outages. Crews worked last night to restore service and have been working since daylight to make the necessary repairs, Black said.     With the unofficial returns tallied on the election this week, some new faces are in some of the offices. In Blaine County, retired sheriff Glenn Heustis upset incumbent Keith Hanson in the race for mayor. Huestis received 222 votes to Hanson’s 179. Robert Smith won the race for councilperson in Ward 1 in Chinook, defeating Michal Radovich 121-86. Shannon Sattleen won the race to represent Ward 2 in the Chinook City Council race.     The Montana state COVID tracking map after this morning’s update listed 681 new cases, 8,705 active cases, 343 hospitalizations and 2,415 deaths. The cumulative total for the state was 180,452 cases. Blaine County reported on the state update this morning, had 5 new cases. The data on the map did not match the county’s last update, which reported Tuesday night 82 active cases with one active hospitalization at that time, Blaine County has had 27 deaths.
