The sauce for this meatloaf does double duty as a glaze and a flavoring agent for the meat. It’s purposely savory and tangy, erring on the side of a less-sweet meatloaf while driving flavor and spice into the meat. A combination of beef and pork mirrors a classic Italian meatball, but feel free to switch the meat ratios to your preference. You can also replace the beef and pork with turkey — preferably dark meat if possible. Light turkey meat is less flavorful. The key to a l...

The Montana Supreme Court and Montana Constitution might seem foreign to most Big Sky citizens. But it plays a huge role in our lives. The 1972 state Constitution gives Montanans strong rights to privacy, freedom, a quality education, and ensures we keep our environment clean and healthy so we can enjoy our clean air and water and hold polluters accountable. Meanwhile, the state Supreme Court — one chief justice and six associate justices — ensures we have a fair and impartial justice system to provide a check on our par...

Scritch, scratch, scrape, scratch, scritch. Chips flying. Breathing dust. I really should have eye protectors. I cannot believe I am doing this job. Just last week, just days ago, I told you I do anything to avoid using sandpaper. Here I am, sanding down metal rocking chairs, one pair so old that the only thing holding them together might be the paint. I proceed cautiously, dust up my nose, in my hair, in the fibers of my clothing. Oh, well. Must be done. It was not my idea. K...

You know, Lord, had to 'eavesdrop' a bit when a small group gathered. One lad said, "Auntie, some lady gave my mom a silly calendar with weird things written by each day. Mom opened it, looked things over, then started to laugh and said, 'Laddy, would you believe on your birthday, in March, it shows that your day, the 23rd, it's 'Chip and Dip Day' and neighbor, Helen's day, the 1st, is Peanut Butter Lover's Day.' And look at this, the 3rd - which is Uncle John's birthday, it...
Matthew 7:1 'By their fruits you will know them. Out our way, there is a lot of excitement and activity on the Tiger Ridge when the big cattle trucks arrive to move the entire herd to market. I have shared this story before, but I think it is worth repeating. As many of you know, Charlie and I rode for Big Mike's brand, working his herd. Charlie on Jet and me on Doc, we spent a lot of time checking the fence and the herd. But on this day, we were moving the herd to a stock...
After decades of progressive dissent, the leaders of the Christian Reformed Church in America finally took a firm stand against the Sexual Revolution. Not only did the 2022 CRC Synod, voting 123-53, condemn “adultery, premarital sex, extra-marital sex, polyamory, pornography and homosexual sex,” it added the small, but influential, denomination’s long-standing teachings on these moral issues to its declaration of faith. The report added: “The church must warn its members that those who refuse to repent of these sins — as we...

PAUL WISEMAN and CHRISTOPHER RUGABER AP Economics Writers WASHINGTON — With characteristic bravado, Donald Trump has vowed that if voters return him to the White House, “inflation will vanish completely.” It’s a message tailored for Americans who are still exasperated by the jump in consumer prices that began 3 1/2 years ago. Yet most mainstream economists say Trump’s policy proposals wouldn’t vanquish inflation. They’d make it worse. They warn that his plans to impose huge tariffs on imported goods, deport millions of m...

CHRISTINA A. CASSIDY and NICHOLAS RICCARDI The Associated Press ATLANTA — The latest method of voting to fall into the political crosshairs is the way overseas voters — including members of the military stationed abroad — cast their ballots. The process is governed by federal law and implemented by states. In recent weeks, Republicans have been challenging how states handle these voters, something former President Donald Trump didn’t do in 2020 when he and his allies challenged his loss in court. But things have changed...
