If anyone needed a sign as to whether the Montana State University-Northern Lights were going to give up on the 2015 season, then look no further than what MSU-N did Saturday. Yes, the Lights lost 48-17 at the hands of College of Idaho Saturday, but from an emotional and effort standpoint, Northern is still fully engaged right now. The Lights, especially a beleaguered Northern defense, which gave up 89 points two weeks ago at Southern Oregon, played with their hair on fire,...
No one likes a quitter. Fans don’t like to see their sports heroes give up — ever. But, at times, fans should be held to the same standard. Giving up on your team, no matter how sad, mad, frustrated or angry you might be, is not being a true fan. My hope is the fans of the Montana State University-Northern Lights remains true to the Lights. Because one thing is certain, the Lights aren’t quitting. They didn’t quit at any point in Saturday’s loss to the College of Idaho Yot...

The two teams met for back-to-back games within the Frontier Division of the North American Tier 3 Hockey League in Sidney Friday and Saturday night. The Bulls got the best of the Nationals Friday by the score of 7-4. Yet, the Nationals responded Saturday with a 5-2 victory, their first of the season. W...

Bozeman took home the first-place prizes in both the boys and girls competitions that each saw a number of teams from Class AA, Class A, Class B and Class C. “It was a tough meet,” HHS head co...

In sports, experience helps. And while the body might not be what is used to be, in the case of the annual Montana State University-Northern Alumni wrestling dual, that tends not to matter much. And it didn’t in the 2015 Alumni Dual Sunday afternoon at the Armory Gymnasium. The Alumni squad, composed of many past Northern greats, with multiple NAIA All-American honors, and headed by former Lights’ coach and wrestling Hall of Famer David Ray, showed that experience and wis...

Friday night. The win pushes Havre’s record to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the Central A. B...
The Montana State University-Northern Lights want to improve every week. And there’s no denying the Lights did just that Saturday. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to avoid a sixth straight loss. In their first-ever visit to Havre, the College of Idaho Yotes used a stout running game to breeze by the Lights 48-17 Saturday afternoon at Blue Pony Stadium. The loss dropped Northern to 0-5 in the Frontier Conference, while C of I (2-3, 2-4) picked up its second win of the 2015 cam...
