    Big Sandy Volunteer Ambulance Service and Big Sandy Medical Center Emergency Room may have some extra funds coming their way thanks to a grateful local whose life and limb they saved this summer. Shane Chauvet, a Big Sandy rancher, will be auctioning off about 23 round bales of hay Friday at 5:30 p.m. at First Bank of Montana in Big Sandy and all of the proceeds will be going to the organizations who saved him after a vehicle crash nearly cost him everything back in July....

  • Fire restrictions remain as fire season winds down

    Counties in the area are sticking with their current approach to fire restrictions despite very few of them reporting fires in the past week. During a regional fire call Tuesday Hill County was one of only three counties which reported any fire activity in the past week. Hill County Commissioner Diane McLean said the area saw two human-caused fires which collectively covered about five acres but were quickly put out.     In addition to voting at their weekly business meeting Thursday on a resolution to allow the county to devote American Rescue Plan Act funds to the Box Elder Water and Sewer System for a planning grant, the Hill County Commission will be discussing the possible dissolution of the Meadowlark County Water and Sewer District.
