    So many decisions. So many choices. After spending hours on the phone with my daughter, under the assumption that two heads are better than one, a cliché not necessarily true but I needed someone to hold my hand, we concluded that there is no wrong road. I am now homeless. My auction sale is Saturday out at the Havre Fairgrounds, so come, say goodbye to me. Early next week I will head out. All the right roads beckon.   • Idaho man sentenced in Rocky Boy shooting

    A Fort Hall, Idaho, man was sentenced in federal court in Great Falls to more than five years in prison for shooting a woman in the leg when she would not tell him where his girlfriend was. U.S. Chief District Court Judge Dana Christensen sentenced Creston Kindness, 30, during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Great Falls. Christensen sentenced Kindness to 63 months in prison followed by three years of probation.   • Rocky Boy man sentenced on child molestation

    Vern Thomas Gardipee of Rocky Boy will spend 30 months in prison followed by 30 years probation as a result of his pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a young girl. U.S. Chief District Court Judge Dana Christensen sentenced Gardipee, 49, in U.S District Court in Great Falls. Gardipee previously pleaded guilty to the charge of sexual abuse of a minor. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a press release that on April 27 and 28, 2012, Gardipee got into bed with a young girl and sexually assaulted her.... Full story

    Havre fans haven’t seen the Havre High volleyball team play since the Blue/White scrimmage in August. But as the Blue Ponies are finally able to make their home debut, fans should be in store to see a volleyball team that is much improved. The Mountain West Meet in Missoula brings in the state’s top runners at the Class AA, A, B and Class C level, as well as some top runners from surrounding states.     There are new champions of the Chinook Men’s Golf League and they are Stockman Bank. Stockman took down the defending champions, Aero Lounge by the score of 40-36 over the 18-hole format. Stockman Bank consists of Kyle Finneman, Chris Adkins, Joe Hagstrom and Scott Norby. The Aero team consisted of Craig Guenther, Gerry Veis, Mike Seymour and Dutch Schulte.     It was a busy week for Montana State University-Northern student-athletes. This past weekend, the MSU-N rodeo teams competed at the Miles Community College Rodeo in Miles City, while the MSU-N men’s and women’s golf teams played the first meet of the fall season Monday and Tuesday in Helena.   • Havre High homecoming brings back parade

    Havre High School is reviving the long-dead homecoming parade at the school parking lots Friday. “There will be floats from every class,” Jane Warp said. Warp is a paraprofessional at Havre High School and the new Pep Club adviser. Bringing back the Havre High School homecoming parade is part of an initiative to gain more community involvement at the high school.   • Ultimate Warrior Challenge rescheduled due to weather

    The Ultimate Warrior Challenge has been rescheduled to Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 1 p.m. due to inclement weather. The entry deadline has also been moved back to Monday at 4 p.m. “There’s a couple of a steep coulees the contestants have to go down on horses, so for the safety of the livestock and contestants, we rescheduled,” said Dustin White, the organizer of the event.     Box Elder School is celebrating Native American culture all week with talks from elders and presentations. Members of the tribal council, elders and community members have been going to the school since Monday to talk with the kids and share stories.     The ninth annual Sugarbeet Festival will draw area residents and travelers to Chinook for festivities. Rita Surber, the manager of the Chinook Chamber of Commerce, said the festival is full of a variety of events.
