My friends are back home in British Columbia. I signed up for three days of depression, lonely following our whirlwind of explorations and excitement. A vibrantly green lizard perches on my wall, staring down at me, as if to say, “I’m here. Don’t cry.” Each day brought choices, where to go, what to see. We drove to Tonola twice for the tianguis (open-air street market). Twice we plucked fruit and vegetables from huge piles at the Friday tianguis in Etzatlan. Under the guise o...

Shockers are becoming the norm it seems in the Frontier Conference. Three weeks into the 2016 season, and there’s just one unbeaten team left, and it’s not league favorites Southern Oregon, Carroll College or Montana Tech. No, it’s Eastern Oregon that is the only team left in the Frontier that has a chance to run the table after the Mounties have beaten SOU and UM-Western to start the season. For a brief moment, the team most likely to run the table looked to be the Fight...
For what has seemed like forever, the Frontier Conference has been dominated by one volleyball team each season. For a long time, that was Lewis-Clark State. The Montana State University-Northern Skylights had their turn, too. The last two years, it’s been Rocky Mountain College. But entering the start of a brand new conference season, things look a little different. Yes, there are still some very good teams. Carroll College and Lewis-Clark State have run up nice p...
