    Pam Burke|Updated Aug 27, 2021

Our old friend the law of unintended consequences says that actions of people always have effects that are unanticipated or unintended, but basically, it’s just a fancy way of saying “oops.” Like the law of gravity is an explanation used in the science of physics, the law of unintended consequences comes from the social sciences, such as economics and politics (which are frequent bedfellows, though that does not matter for our purposes here today — I’m just sayin’). Historian...

  • Out Our Way: Don't quit! - Matthew 4:16-17

    Updated Aug 27, 2021

Out our way, the best riders are the ones who never give up. They will get thrown and tossed and stomped, but they don't quit. They "cowboy up" and get back in the saddle. Granted, there are some of us who take longer than others - who spend more time on the ground than in the saddle - but though we may never become great riders, we can become adequate. Learning to just keep at it is a good thing in daily life as well as working cattle, and it is amazing how many folks have...

"I love history, but when...

  • GAME DAY FEATURE: FINALLY: Fans ready to pack new Tilleman Field

    George Ferguson|Updated Aug 25, 2021

IN fact, so many times so, that, the stadium isn't really brand new anymore. But, what the Lights haven't done is, plain a Saturday afternoon, in the fall, in front of...
