  • Letter to the Editor: Gianforte for free enterprise, not federal socialistic domination

    Updated Aug 23, 2016

Editor, I am fully behind Greg Gianforte for governor. We sadly and urgently need to unseat current Gov. Steve Bullock. I have talked with Gianforte several times, but feel he likely needs more truthful information on why neither the water compact nor a hugely embellished, over-riding Tester bill must not be allowed passage. Montana candidates as well as current legislators, including at federal level, have been extensively propagandized and misinformed by well-financed compact proponents. The CSKT compact, in combination...

Sgt. Joe Kinsey of the Montana Highway Patrol said the driver of the vehicle escaped without injury, but the fire spread to the large tanker, which caused the entire rig to burn completely and blocked traffic on the main...

    Alex Ross|Updated Aug 22, 2016

Though he spent more than a decade in local government, once launched a bid to be his party's nominee as governor and is now running for state legislature, Republican Jim O'Hara said he does not have an ambitious policy proposal. "I am not a visionary, just a farmer who wants smaller government and less bureaucracy," O'Hara said Friday during the Pachyderm Club meeting in the Duck Inn Vineyard Room. A Fort Benton native, O'Hara is the party's candidate in House District 27....

  • Mariani continues to impress with the Bears

    George Ferguson|Updated Aug 22, 2016

Marc Mariani might have modest numbers through the Chicago Bears’ first two NFL preseason games. But the praise he’s receiving in training camp, and the impact he’s making on a young Bears’ roster is anything but. Last Thursday night, Mariani had just one grab for three yards in the Bears’ 23-22 loss at the New England Patriots.
