  • Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

    Updated Jul 24, 2020

You know, Lord, sometimes while looking for one thing, one finds something else, like a snippet from a longer article, called "A Quote for Today" – how about that? Then up popped the first quote: "What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, God calls a butterfly!" How about the second one – that's pretty right on! Updated Jul 24, 2020

Many of the ideas and scriptures for this article are from the devotional “God Wants You To Win!” by world champion calf roper Jeff Copenhaver. Proverbs 11:3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. In the 1980s, Jeff was with a friend in Canada who was negotiating an oil lease deal. That night, the Lord gave him a dream where he saw three letters standing for Honesty, Integrity and Truth as arrows shooting at a target. The Lord revealed that the people dealing with his...

    Updated Jul 24, 2020

When we look into the word of God we find that Jesus came to the earth for one primary reason, to heal mankind. Through the work of Jesus we find healing in several different ways. In Isaiah 53:5 we see first that Jesus is the healer of our relationship with God. Jesus shed His blood for our sins so we can be forgiven and, through faith in His shed blood, enter into a restored relationship with God. It says Jesus was “wounded for our transgressions.” Next Isaiah 53:5 reads, “He was bruised for our iniquities.” A bruise...

  • Out Our Way: A boot, a rope, a horse - Psalm 2

    Updated Jul 24, 2020

Out our way, teamwork is often critical. There are things one cannot do alone and it is good to be reminded we are not alone. I have shared with you the story of the time I got my boot stuck in the mud while riding fence one time. To remind you, I was checking fence and there was a corner section behind a grove of thorn trees. Cattle had made a pathway through the thicket, but it was too narrow and low to ride, so I got off Doc and made my way along the cattle trail. I came to what appeared to be a dried out creek bed and...
