    The Great Northern Fair began in earnest Wednesday with the opening of the Midway West Amusements Carnival, the 4-H Chuckwagon and most of the food booths - and reviews are mostly positive.     The Wasay Wakpa Wachi Powwow is returning to Lodge Pole Friday and Saturday after a year without it due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Wasay Wakpa Wachi Oshkaday Committee Member Don Racine said it will be a traditional, noncompetitive powwow for the Fort Belknap community and beyond. “We keep things pretty simple, a lot of singing, a lot of dancing,” Racine said.   • HPS requesting public input on how to spend COVID-19 relief funds

    Havre Public School Superintendent Craig Mueller said the school system is working on its Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund plans and are looking for public input on how the money in the fund should be spent. The fund contains around $7 million in COVID-19 relief, and Mueller said the school system needs to submit a plan to the Montana Office of Public Instruction for how they plan to use these funds over the next few years.     Two new events have been added to the schedule of the Northern Winz Casino Powwow at the Great Northern Fair Friday evening including a stand-up comedy show featuring Conway Kootenay, and a hot dog eating contest.
