These little guys are so strangely small and cunning that they were just asking for it. These are pint-sized, skeeter-gnat-ninja warrior hybrids with a stealth mode and an extra pain-to-the-ounce bite. Really, they are freaks of nature so small you can't hear their telltale hum coming at you and they can squeeze through the window screens. Yes, you read that right: There is no hope of pro...

Connie and I just returned from our vacation from Everett, Washington, to San Diego, California, experiencing three lessons along the 4,218 mile trip. The first lesson was to be in the state of rest knowing that there were no pressing schedules. God instructs us to rest from our worried, fears, expectations and drives by placing His yoke on our shoulders, united with His strength. MT 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle a...
"Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and His Messiah (literally "the Anointed One"). 'Let us break their chains,' they say, 'and throw away their fetters!' The One enthroned in heaven laughs!" - Psalm 2:14 Out our way, sometimes you just have to laugh. You got to have a sense of humor if you are a rancher or a farmer on the Hi-Line. After all, what else can you do when...
Sometimes it’s kind of crazy how fast time goes. Just one year ago at this time, I didn’t even live in Havre or work for the Havre Daily News. My first year back at the HDN has gone by fast and for that matter so has this summer. Summer is always fleeting, probably because we all wish it would stay forever, most of us anyway. Yet, that’s only a wish, not reality. The reality is that our summer is already half over and with the Great Northern Fair already set to begin next week, it will truly be over before we know it. But a...

And all of the Blue Pony fall sports teams have some exciting schedules this coming season. The Havre High football team, under the direction of new head coach Mark...
In case you haven't noticed, the Havre North Stars American Legion baseball team has been on a bit of a roll lately. And while there are many reasons behind the team's recent success, one of the biggest has been the pitching of Dylan Carpenter. At the start of the 2015 season, North Stars head coach Dick Fuzesy said that he believed the strength of his team was its pitching and defense. And now as the season winds down, that statement is looking prophetic, particularly with...
