Janice Kay “Jan” Delaney, well-known school teacher, historian and genealogy buff, who was active in the Rudyard Museum and other local projects and wrote weekly articles for several area newspapers, died Oct. 16, 2015. City of Harlem officials are advising citizens to conserve water due to a problem with the city’s water treatment plant being able to keep up with normal watrer use. Harlem City Clerk and Treasurer Rebecca Skoyen said there are no issues with the quality of city’s water. “The water is safe to drink,” she said. The problem, she said, is that the water treatment plant is having trouble treating water as fast as it normally does. Havre City Council Tuesday gave its OK to two street closings for community festivals in coming months. The Hill County Health Department will hold its annual Lil’ Shots Carnival Friday, Aug. 12, and asked that 4th Avenue from 3rd to 4th streets be blocked off so the activities can be held. A small grass fire that started on the Great Northern Fairgrounds Tuesday was quickly extinguished, resulting in no real damage.
