There’s nothing better than summer in Montana. Sweet Flathead cherries, fresh bread baked with Montana wheat, huckleberries and bison burgers on the grill. In Montana, we share our bounty. But for the one in seven Montanans who have trouble keeping food on the table, this summer bounty is a dream, not a reality. A staggering one-third of Montanans are at risk of food insecurity. In rural par...

Havre, the "pride of the Hi-Line." in the Treasure State of Montana ... but do we have some whiners among us? The summer fun activities are wonderful, especially Sounds on the Square on Wednesday evenings. However, in attending the very first musical showcase featuring the amazing Blind Luck, we were disappointed there was not going to be refreshments sold during the melody extravaganza. We heard, through the grapevine, the reason food is not being sold is because local merchants feel selling food would take away from their...

  • Life is like a list of chores

    Pam Burke|Updated Jun 28, 2013

  • Walt Currie did so much more than coach

    George Ferguson|Updated Jun 28, 2013

When it comes to coaches, it’s pretty unique to have the perspective I do. Not only do I get to cover coaches for a living, but I am one myself. And that gives me the opportunity to see both sides of the fence, so to speak. As is the case with any coach, I have many mentors, many coaches who have influenced my life, my coaching philosophy, and in general, the way I approach sports all together. I also know that coaches have a unique ability to touch the lives of many, no m...
