    Paul Dragu|Updated Jun 3, 2016

Retiring Havre High School math teacher Mary Wagner doesn't like change. If it were up to her, she said, she would bring back the chalkboards and throw out the cellphones. I tell the kids I'm an old-fashioned person with a few modern ideas," she said. Mary speaks quickly but fluidly and clear. She rarely stops smiling when doi...

  • View from the North 40: As the Revolution turns

    Pam Burke|Updated May 13, 2016

I have been watching a television series based on events and people involved in the American Revolution and it is clear to me that, had I lived at that time in history, the likelihood of my survival to old age would have been roughly nil. First off, it’s unlikely I could have managed to survive childhood and early adulthood. Aimless children prone to daydreaming rather than working were killed either by accident or out of frustration — or flat out to save money to buy food and...

The cattle wander freely throughout the area and I am sure I am not the only camper who has...
