    Betty Lou Malmberg of Havre and Bozeman, Mont., passed away peacefully of congestive heart failure on Feb. 27, 2013. She was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Hibbing, Minn. to William and Bertha Harrison, the youngest of four children. Betty attended the University of Minnesota, was a member of Alpha Tau Delta, the professional nursing sorority, and graduated with a degree in nursing in June 1950. After marrying her college boyfriend, Paul Malmberg, the newlyweds moved west to the growing town of Havre to start a new life together....

    The last day to register for a program designed to help people get their General Education Development, or GED, high school equivalency diploma is fast approaching.   • City Council OKs pact with public works union

    Public Works Department employees will get a 1 percent pay increase under the terms of a contract with the city of Havre. The deal with the Local 336 of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees was approved unanimously by City Council Monday night. Mayor Tim Solomon said the deal was worked out with the help of a mediator. The increase is retroactive to July 1, 2012.     The Fort Assinniboine Preservation Association and the Frank DeRosa Railroad Museum have been honored for their efforts to preserve Hill County history. The two groups were given the 2013 Preservation Month Awards by the Havre/Hill County Historic Preservation Commission at Monday night's City Council meeting.     A group trying to bring back a decades-old Hill County tradition is still in the planning stages, with a change to the name of the youth summer camp.
