    Longtime Havre Public Schools employee Brandon Berreth is vying for a seat on the Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees for a one year term, running against sitting board member Garritt Ophus.   • Chinook water boil order is off

    Havre Daily News staff The City of Chinook has announced on its Facebook page this morning that the boil order that was in effect for users of the city water is now off. The water was shut off Wednesday night through Thursday morning to allow repair of a waterline, and due to depressurization necessary a chance of water contamination was possible, leading to the boil order. The order is now off and people can resume using their water from the Chinook Water Treatment Plant as normal....

    At the Hill County Board of Health’s bi-weekly COVID-19 update Hill County Public Health Director and Health Officer Kim Berg said prevention efforts against COVID-19 must continue amid a global rise in cases. Berg said new cases in Hill County remain below 5 per day per 100,000 residents which is good, but precautions should still be taken given what is happening in the rest of the world.     A meeting about the funding of RSID 21 will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Great Northern Community Center. Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson said the purpose of the meeting is primarily to discuss the funding of the district including a Community Development Block Grant the county received last year to upgrade the wastewater system in the RSID which is located in North Havre. “We’re just trying to figure out how to fund it,” Peterson said.     Press release Montana State University-Northern has announced that the 2019, 2020 and 2021 commencement ceremonies will be Saturday in the Armory Gymnasium. Northern was unable to hold a ceremony in 2020 due to the pandemic, this ceremony is a combination of students from 2019, 2020 and 2021.
