Montanans expect a lot out of their elected officials, as well they should. Without regard to political party, they expect us to work together when we can and explain our differences with honesty when we cannot. They expect us to spend less time on spats in Helena, and more time on getting to work and strengthening our communities. More than anything, Montanans expect their elected officials to talk straight and be honest. Unfortunately for all Montanans, some Republicans in Montana are starting to act a lot like Republicans...
We perhaps agree that we will continue to use some form of energy for industry, home heating and lighting and transportation. We need energy to continue to live a lifestyle similar to what we have now. We will continue to eat. Food production will need to continue on a commercial basis to produce enough food for there to be opportunity for every citizen in the USA to consume adequate nutrients. We can agree that open spaces are important for many reasons, wildlife habitat, recreations and solitude and agriculture production....
It’s a pretty sure sign I’m in a crabby mood when I read the headline “Homeowner finds naked intruder in her tub, eating Cheetos,” and my brain says “Meh, whatever.” The story seems to have all the elements I would normally find appealing: the suspense of a break-in, the mystery of the man who supposedly told the female intruder to intrude, the surprise of finding her naked, the absurdity of her lounging in the tub rather than ransacking the house and the confusion of the intruder having brought her own cooler full of foo...

You know, Lord, a friend shared an interesting site telling about the Bible being the inspired Word of God, by Jason and Ron Carlson. Who among us ever thinks that the Bible is more than a single book? It was reported that during a question and answer session at a speaking engagement, a university student asked: “Why do you believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God?” When and where this happened is not recorded. The subject matter was fascinating so it seemed fitting to pass it along. Who answered the stu...
This article continues to look at material from the book “Never Enough?” by Ron Blue with Karen Guess. 1 Timothy 5:8 “But if anyone does not provide for his own, that is his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” When I make a decision in one area of my finances it impacts my financial situation in other areas as well. I can only spend or give away a dollar once. God owns everything but I do not. I need to remember to spend less than I earn because my financial success depends on develop...
Out our way, folks that ride know it's not a question of if they will be tossed and hurt, but when. As gentle as Doc is, he has a hitch in his giddyap that flares up and he bucks at unexpected times when that sore hip of his zaps him. He also tends to stumble over his own feet and trips - and he has never gotten his leads right. All of which has lead me more than once to be "launched" and tossed to earth. Cactus, rocks and just hard-packed soil have all taken their toll. More...

The heavy snowfall, subzero temperatures and fierce winds of this winter led to Havre being named by Weather Channel as the city that had the worst winter weather of 2017-18. For Hanson and his crew, it was a source of stress, frustration and sleepless nights, he said. Department employees would make...
