  • Letter to the Editor - A different viewpoint on the legislative transmittal

    Updated Mar 8, 2021

Dear Editor: Since there was no non-partisan transmittal legislative update in north central Montana, here is the update for your readers from my viewpoint of what went on, on the other side of the aisle — Democrats. There were a lot of good bills and proposals presented from the minority, but most were tabled in committee. In the House, of the 98 bills on the floor the last two days before transmittal only 16 were sponsored by Democrats. This is my 10th session in the legislature since 2003, and it’s by far the most hyper pa...

Chagnon beat previously undefeated Frenchtown rival Eli Warner for the 120-pound Class A state championship with a 7-3 decision, giving the senior two for his career. "It's an indescribable feeling even though it's my second time achieving it," Chagnon...

With everything on the line, Filius gave the Blue Ponies a three-point lead when she grabbed an offensive rebound, made a layup while getting fouled and then hit the...

  • George Ferguson: You may not love the praise, but I'm giving it to you anyway … Dustin Kraske, you are a special coach

    George Ferguson|Updated Mar 8, 2021

GREAT FALLS - As someone who has coached high school sports for almost 20 years, and has even been lucky enough to hoist a few state championship trophies along the way, I can attest to how hard it all is. That's right, coaching is hard. Winning is hard. But they're both a lot of fun, too. And knowing that, I find myself in awe of just what Havre High head girls basketball coach Dustin Kraske has accomplished in his time at the helm of the Blue Ponies, I'm in awe because I...
