There have been a lot of great basketball players in the history of Havre High, but only a few have ever scored more than 40 points in a game and the name at the top of that list is Cory Brothers. The Blue Ponies will travel to Great Falls Thursday to take on Great Falls High in an attempt to win back the Ole Goat trophy for the first time since 1991. And that opportunity brings to mind another great chance the Ponies had to win the trophy, only this one came back in 2003, fol...

Press release A local organic farmer said north-central Montana producers may want to look into the benefits of converting some of their production to organic agriculture. "There are two things I love about organic farming," said Bob Quinn of Big Sandy, who has been farming organically for 30 years. "The first is that it made farming fun again for me. Second was that I started making money again, which, of course, was part of the fun. We paid off our operating note in three...

The Frontier Conference basketball season has reached the halfway point, and to say nothing is settled yet would be a vast understatement. On the men’s side, Lewis-Clark State has won 10 straight games and sports a 7-1 Frontier Conference record. Included in that was a huge win over Carroll College Saturday night in Lewiston, Idaho, but, the Warriors still only lead the Saints by a half of a game in the Frontier standings, and they have just a two game lead on UM-Western. T...

Sometimes, I forget what I did last week. Sometimes I forget what I had for dinner two nights ago. I guess that’s just the nature of getting older and, pretty much being busy with sports 24/7. But ask me about the Havre High basketball season of 1990-91 and it’s an entirely different matter. There is very little I don’t remember about that magical year. As the Havre Blue Ponies try to win the Ole Goat back from Great Falls High tonight — for the first time since that amazing...

The Montana State University-Northern Skylights earned an important home sweep of Rocky Mountain College and UM-Western last weekend at home. But because of how red-hot the Lewis-Clark State Warriors are right now, things have changed a bit in the NAIA rankings. The Skylights dropped from No. 14 to No. 15 in the new NAIA Women's Coaches Poll this week, as LCSC passed Northern in the rankings for the first time this season. After beating then No. 5 Carroll College in double...
