  • Greenough pleads in pharmacy robbery

    Staff report A Havre man accused in connection with the July 21 robbery and theft of thousands of prescription pills from a Havre pharmacy has pleaded guilty in a plea agreement. Ryan M. Greenough, born in 1983, pleaded guilty to criminal possession of drugs with the intent to distribute in an amended set of charges and to use or possession of property subject to forfeiture.   • Judge overturns Montana's gay marriage ban

    HELENA — A federal judge in Montana has overturned the state's ban on gay marriage. U.S. District Judge Brian Morris ruled Wednesday that Montana's constitutional amendment limiting marriage to between a man and a woman violates the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in September that Idaho and Nevada's bans are unconstitutional.     A task force met in Havre Tuesday to continue discussing ideas of preventing teen pregnancy in Hill County. According to the website http://www.countyhealthrankings.org, as of 2014 – for every 1,000 teenage girls ages 15 to 19, Hill County has 66 teen births out of a thousand teen girls, nearly twice the state average.     Staff report A Havre man is among defendants charged with participating in a methamphetamine distribution ring, that ran from California through Montana, to plead guilty in federal District Court in Great Falls.     The man who held himself at gunpoint for 21 hours in April outside the U.S. Bank building was officially deemed to have committed suicide. A coroner's jury made the decision Friday on the cause of Robert Jay Thomas II's death. "The jury found he was killed by taking his own life with a pistol" said Hill County Attorney Ed Hirsch.
